The balance is the issued amount minus the redeemed amount. This documentation does not know the balance of your code: open its details in gifty with access to the relevant store to check a real case.

Complete example

The amount to deduct must be greater than zero and cannot exceed the available balance. Once the balance is exhausted, the gift card is redeemed; if value remains after partial use, it is partially redeemed.

When partial redemption is allowed

The store must enable partial redemption and the gift card must be eligible. The preference is off by default. It applies to native gifty gift cards, including previously issued cards that remain eligible; migrated cards are outside this flow. If the preference is disabled, gift cards already partially used retain the ability to use their remaining balance until exhausted or expired. Cards without previous partial use return to full redemption behavior. Enabling the option does not recover value that was already lost.

If the balance changes while you confirm

Another purchase may consume value before your confirmation. Read the updated balance and adjust the amount; do not blindly retry the previous amount. Confirmation checks the balance again.

If a redemption is left incomplete

Counter redemption coordinates the store coupon and the balance. If the operation remains pending, use the complete or cancel options gifty offers. Canceling a pending attempt does not undo a completed redemption. After partial redemption, the coupon update continues durably. Do not assume the code can be reused instantly: follow the operation status.
